The Perfect Bell-Sleeve Top

Outfit Details: Lucy Paris Bell Sleeve Top (Similar here and here), Brandy Melville Denim Skirt (Sold out, similar here), Lulus Lace Up Espadrilles

Yesterday was a pretty special day for me. It was me and my boyfriend’s 2 ½ years anniversary. Dating him has flown by so quickly you guys! His name is Matthew and he’s the absolute best.

I dressed up real cute for him for the first time in ever because you know most days I just pop up at his place in a t-shirt and no makeup. I thought I’d spoil him today. You feel me girls?

We just had a casual day and walked around, because walks are a top fave date for us. There’s something about just disconnecting from everyone else and spending time outside that always brings us closer together. Anyone else into more outdoorsy dates?

Then we went back to his house and made lunch for just the two of us. He’s actually a pretty good cook nowadays, and not to take all the credit, but it’s mostly because of me. *Smirk*

Kidding, but kind of not. He used to ask me what boiling water looked like. Yikes. This was about a year ago and the boy is 21. Disaster.

Now he’s a master at cooking the best broccoli and asparagus recipe ever. Probably because it’s so simple but, dang guys, this stuff has some flavor!! If y’all want the deets, just let me know below in the comments.

But, yeah, this is what I decided for a casual date with my boo thang. I wouldn’t wear this for a dinner date because I don’t think it’s formal enough, but it’s just easy breezy enough for lunch. I’ve been searching for a bell-sleeve top that I LOVED and this fit the bill instantly. I mean, these sleeves are killer.

It’s a tad crinkly but that’s only because I just bought it and was WAY too excited to wait to wear it. Patience is not a virtue I ever think I’ll have. Sigh.

Side Note: Don’t judge my crazy hair. Houston humidity felt like it was at an all time high today.

Summer Rompers

may 29-23

Wearing Leith Romper (Sold out, similar here, here, and here)

Hey munchkins!

I hope you guys are having a great Memorial Day. I’m spending the day with the fam and we’re going ice skating and then we’ll be heading to get crawfish. YUMMM!

I wore this romper to my best friend’s little sister’s graduation party. I kept getting tons of compliments so I thought I’d share this outfit with you guys! It really is perfect for graduation season because it’s both comfortable and chic. As you guys know, my two favorite things put together.

I was really feeling a more minimalistic vibe with this outfit. So, I decided to couple this romper with drop earrings and nude heels. I also wore these heels in the previous post and I cannot emphasize how comfy they are. They’re made by Donald J Pliner and you guys need to check this shoe line out because I am obsessed!

P.S. I go with a lower heel when it’s more of a daytime look. The heel inches up as the night progresses. But not too much, because my balance is kind of sort of absolutely horrific.

Buuuut, if you’re not into earrings, a gold lariat necklace would be my next go to accessory.

In addition, I compiled a couple rompers on my wish list at the moment!

I’m thinking number 3 may be my overall favorite. Dratz. I also really like 1 and 4. Help me decide guys! Let me know which is your favorite below… plz?

Denim Clad

Zara Denim Dress alternative color here (Similar here and here), Donald J Pliner shoes (sold out, similar here)

Hey munchkins! Sorry for the break in posting. My week has been consumed hanging out with my siblings. They can be super-demanding. AKA trips to the park everyday, especially now that they’re out for summer. I love them, but a girl needs a break every once in a while.

One of my favorite parts about summer is getting to wear dresses. They’re great because they’re feminine and always make it look like you really tried to get dressed up for the day when you know all you did was throw it on. If you can’t tell, I’m all about lazy fashion that looks put together.

I got a tad (ok, a lot) off the shoulder dress crazy these past couple of days and picked up this super cute and comfy af denim dress. I adore the wash of it. Oh, and that little detail at the bottom? Yas.

I got this in-store from Zara, actually only two days ago, but it looks like they’ve already sold out in this color online. So, here’s a lighter version from Zara here.

Side Note: One of the other off the shoulder dresses that I got is this dress from Urban Outfitters. Talk about perfect for summer. Total heart eyes. It’s still waiting to be shipped but I’ll put a post for you guys once I get it!

I wore this little denim number while walking around Rice Village in Houston. This place has some cute boutiques that I am always browsing in… while trying to stop myself from spending all my money. It’s definitely my favorite place to shop in Houston because it’s outdoors and because the former comment on all of its cutesy goodness. One of my favorite shops to peruse is Hemline. Seriously, check it out!

Side Note: If you’re ever in the Houston area and you love ice cream or cookies. Or ice cream and cookies. (Let’s be real, who doesn’t?) You need to try out Smoosh in the Rice Village. Oh, and get the Peanut Butter Brownie Ice Cream in the middle. So. Dang. Good.

If any of you are into the choker trend like I am, I have a couple of useful tricks. Chokers are an accessory that you can get really creative with. I tend to cut down costs by coming up with chokers of my own. Sometimes I use headbands and tie it in the back so it’s of choker length. Trust me, it can be cuter than it would seem. Other times, I check out the ribbon section at Hobby Lobby or a bead store. Get creative with it! It’s both affordable and cute. No complaints there, right?

Summer Trench

Outfit Details: June & Hudson trench coat , Free People Top (sold out. Similar here), Free People shorts (similar here), Madewell sandals (similar here, here, here), Tory Burch purse (similar here, here), Estee Lauder lip gloss

Helluuur! It’s Saturday, you guys I know this is the day we’ve all been waiting for this entire week. At least for me, whoops.

I remember I used to loathe the color orange for any type of clothing (so naive). When I thought orange, I thought that awfully bright neon orange that would clash with my skin tone. I’m so thankful I discovered this shade because it’s freaking chic as heck.

Since this trench coat already gave the pop of color needed in the outfit, I went neutral with everything else. This black purse is one of my favorite of Tory Burch’s purses. And, girls, it’s ON SALE and available in two other adorable colors! It really is a perfect bag because it’s small but is also big enough to carry essentials. I can fit my phone, keys, some makeup necessities and cards in it. Clutch af.

Side Note: Does anyone else love/hate summer? Don’t get me wrong, I love summer. But, sometimes I get insanely bored. Ya know? Luckily I think I’m taking a trip to Big Bend National Park sometime in June. A good ole’ dose of hiking and camping is exactly what I need right now. If anyone has any tips I’d love to hear below in the comments!

Also, I’ve been veering towards lots of matte lipsticks but my sister recommended this Estee Lauder Sculpting gloss, and I am adoring it. (Thanks sissy!) The shade I’m wearing in the photos is ‘Eccentric Flower’. I think it’s time I get back on the gloss game because it’s so great for when the rest of your outfit stands out.

Phew, all I’m hoping to do for the rest of today is grab some sushi with the old man and get some reading in. My current read is For Whom the Bell Tolls. I’m trying this thing where I read all the great Classic Literature novels. I’ve gotta admit, sometimes it can be pretty difficult. Great Expectations anyone? That was definitely not my cup of tea. Yikes, summer readings could be so brutal.

P.S. If any of you are looking for a good book to read over summer. I highly recommend The Count of Monte Cristo. Epic, man.

Hope ya goobers have a great Saturday!

Bandana Lovin’

Outfit Details: Urban Outfitters top (sold out, similar herehere and here), American Eagle shorts (similar here), Bandana option (hereherehere), Free People bralette , Benefit cheek/lip stain (alternative color here)

Guys, I am totally digging this bandana neck scarf trend. Throwing on this bandana has become one of my go-to lazy day accessories. It’s such a versatile piece that glams up anything and everything. I mean what other accessory can work as a scarf, bracelet and headscarf? For someone who has lots and lots of lazy days, this piece was a must.

What’s even better, yeah it gets better, is that this accessory is so freakin’ cheap. Rejoice y’all. I’m sure we can all agree that anything cheap and this cute is a godsend. Above, I linked a couple of other bandanas, but I personally got mine at Hobby Lobby for super cheap. Like, change in my pocket cheap.

P.S. For some reason, this bandana resurrects the Texan in me and just makes me want to bring out my cowboy boots and head to the Rodeo. Seriously, I was about to put on my cowboy boots with this outfit but left them at my friends place. It was going to be so western style chic.

But, yeah, if I could have only 3 accessories I could wear for the rest of my life (which would be awful), I would include this. It goes with every texture and so many silhouettes. Plus it has so many uses. I’m pretty sure I once read an article about how it’s prime survival gear… I like to camp, alright? I stumble upon weird stuff like this.

Basically, this bandana is killer. Hit up your nearest Hobby Lobby right now. I promise you will not regret it. If you do, it’ll be < 1 dollar of regret. But you won’t regret it. So, no worries.

tangs-5tangs-12tangs-13Side Note: I’m loling because as you can see in the above photo there’s a scar on my elbow. Which, is actually from a intramural soccer game. SIKE. It’s from when I was walking back from a intramural soccer game and slipped on the concrete. (thx 4 nothing cleats!!) So embarrassing.

Alsoo, these shorts are perf. Thank you to the creators of American Eagle for creating such affordable and comfy denim. If you can’t tell, affordability is a running theme in my life. These are my most worn shorts. I honestly can’t live without them. If I was forced to take one pair of shorts with me forever these are the ones I’d choose. Ok, so apparently I’m being forced to do a lot of things today. BONUS, AE is having a buy one get one 50% off sale so that’s kind of like a sign that you need these in your life.

I’m back in Houston for the summer. Yasss! To any people who have visited the Houston area or live here are there any fun things that you love to do here? Although I’ve lived here most of my life there’s so much left for me to explore in this city. I swear it’s never going to stop growing. Hey, Houston, if you could get your construction pains under control that would be great. If you’ve been here you totally feel me.

If any of you guys are fellow Houston bloggers or are photographers we should get a collaboration going! Let me know if any of you munchkins are from the Houston area. Maybe I’ll see you around!

Favorite Avocado Toast Recipe

avo-4This is nothing new, but it’s so simple and delicious that I decided it merits a post. This is on the simple side, which is what makes it great. Anyone can make this because it’s cheap and quick to make (Hellooo college students). I’ve tried several different avo toast recipes but my favorite, by-far, is one that I slightly tweaked. It includes:

-A quality artisan bread (I prefer sourdough)

-Half an avocado (Give or take)

-Crushed red pepper

-Kosher salt

-A squeeze of lime (my slight twist!)

Side Note: Ok, who knows, lime may actually be a common thing to add but never have I ever seen anyone include lime, so, to me it’s a twist

You can either smash up the avocados and mix everything together like a spread of guacamole OR you can simply layer slices of the avocado then sprinkle it with the toppings. It’s all based on preferences.

I just had this lunch as a post-workout meal with a clementine, peach and glass of water. This comes together to make an incredibly simple, healthy, and scrumptious lunch in all under 5 minutes. You loving this yet? I totally am.

Also, it’s super rainy today which gives me the perfect excuse to stay locked inside my apartment and just online shop/ read all day. Ugh, I love rainy days like no other. Maybe I should move up to the PNW. I wish.

Anyways, getting off topic. I swear my mind goes a million miles in every direction.

Look at this. Doesn’t it look incredible? Trust me, it is. Make it. Eat it. And repeat.

TBH: I put a lot more red pepper flakes than is pictured in these photos, but I’m just a crazy spice fiend. Really, my friends think I’m crazy.

I’m considering adding a little more oomph to it to get even more nutritional content in it though. I was thinking maybe flax seeds and some cilantro? If I try it out I’ll be sure to let you know. Let me know if any of you guys have any other avo toast recipes that you love. I absolutely lurvv hearing from you guys. It makes my day!

If you enjoyed the recipe or there’s something you’d particularly like to see on the blog just let me know in the comments below! If you want more updates check out my instagram, @saratmirza, or follow me on snapchat @dasmirz.

Later munchkins!

Summer Essentials with Revolve

So, this past weekend I was shopping with my little sister for her 5th grade graduation dress (so cute). She got 3 dresses for all less than 15$ that were nicer than half the dresses I own. Um, what? If only our clothes were as cheap as that.

I guess I just need to come to the realization that that will never happen.

Yeah so I totally just talked about how I wish clothes was cheaper but I still can’t stay away. So unfair. But, we deserve to treat ourselves so whoo cares. Here are some splurge-worthy items from Revolve to reward yourself with! At least we’ll look cute.. right?

Mother’s Day Gift Ideas

I’ve always loved the idea of Mother’s Day. Although every day we should be appreciating our mothers, sometimes we get swept up by the chaos of life so that we forget to thank our mother’s for everything that they do for us. Mother’s Day brings us out of the rush and gives us the perfect day to acknowledge our appreciation and spoil them with love all day long. My mother has always been one that doesn’t want anything too elaborate or pricey for her day of appreciation. Instead, she enjoys simple things like flowers and time with the family. I can’t wait to see her this weekend, it’s been months! She has no idea I’m coming home yet so it’ll be fun surprising her. Sooo in preparation for this Mother’s Day, I’ve been browsing everywhere for something to get my own mom. I’ve compiled a list of some of the various gifts I stumbled upon to help you guys pick out a present!

A Book: If you’ve noticed that your mother is inseparable from a good read, get her a book that fits into the genres that she tends to enjoy.

Wall Decoration: Absolutely love this one. The simplicity coupled with the bible verse is a gorgeous gift that mom will love.

A Spa Day: Treat mom to some relaxation and take her to a spa for some peaceful mother-daughter (or son!) bonding. I know I would not have any complaints about massages.

Bath Tea: Another (amazing) option to pamper mom. You’ll be the favorite child with this bath tea 😉

A Candle: Candles are a timeless gift that adds class to any room. Tickle mom’s senses with this diptyque scented candle. Another one of my favorite options is this beautiful Barr-Co. Apothecary Jar Candle available at Anthropologie. Or,really, any of their candles. Love. Them. All.

Flower: Nothing brightens up a room more than flowers do. What’s even better is you can get her a beautiful vase that she can use over and over again. Currently, I’m obsessed with this design on vases.

Personalized Wooden Kitchen Spoon: This spoon is incredibly adorable and adds personality to mom’s kitchen supplies. I’m even considering getting one myself!

A framed photo: If there’s anything a mother absolutely loves, it’s sentimental pieces that will endure over time. Pick out your cutest baby picture if you really want to get mom in the feels.

Tiff’s Treats Cookies: Splurge mom’s sweet tooth with these amazing cookies. I can vouch for them, they are good. The best part is that these can be delivered to your mom if you don’t have the luxury of bringing her home-baked goodies.

Garden Gloves: If mom loves to spend her time outside in the garden, these gloves are for her. Not only are they practical, but they’re also super cute.

A Eno Hammock: This DoubleNest Hammock is perfect for the mom who dominates hikes through the mountains and plans to tread through every forest there is. This will give her the comfort she needs when she’s out on a hiking trip.

I hope this helped you decide what you’re going to get your mom! Let me know how you decide to pamper her this weekend below in the comments,  I love hearing what you guys have to say.

When in Vancouver

Wow. I don’t even know where to begin on what a wonderful spring break I was lucky enough to have this year. Me and several of my amazing friends took a flight up to British Columbia for the week and immersed ourselves in all of Canada’s beauty. I was lavishly spoiled by all of Vancouver’s food and find myself craving all of its goodness now that I am back in The States (What! I even call it “The States” now). We found ourselves stuck on a college budget and restricted to some of the more touristy activities in the Vancouver area but fortunately we were able to get away to the more remote areas as well.

Capilano Suspension Bridge

Although I really did enjoy Capilano Suspension Bridge, I felt it lacked the adventure rigor that I tend to seek. Besides that, I highly recommend it for those who would love to walk along a bridge 230 feet above a rushing river, because it was truly a gorgeous sight. (This is more on the touristy side, so if you’re looking for a complete immersion in nature this may not be your thing.)

Stawamus Chief
View at the top

These two photos above are of our nature excursion to Stawamus Chief in Squamish, BC. This hike, quite often, left me breathless in both a tiring and beauty-admiring way. This route is definitely on the more intense side and the rain that accompanied it made it all the more challenging. I highly recommend this place if you’re in the Vancouver area, but if you’re not a very proficient hiker avoid it when the forecast is predicting rainy skies. An added bonus was the view that you get on the drive to Squamish. Honestly, this hour drive was undoubtedly one of the most beautiful ones I’ve been on. So, even if you’re not a hiker you can take this drive solely for the scenery.

Beautiful flowers at Granville Island
Tons of fresh produce at Granville Island

Lastly, Granville Island Public Market. If only I could bring this place back to Texas with me. I would be eating there every single day. Actually, it’s best it’s thousands of miles away so my bank account isn’t completely empty… BUT. I highly suggest stopping by herewith at least 2 hours to peruse all of the various vendors and foods. This was a bittersweet stop for me because it was one of the last places we saw before leaving Canada.

Here are some of the other places I suggest visiting if you’re in the Vancouver area:

  1. Stanley Park
  2. Gastown
  3. Victoria (About 4 hours away)
  4. St. Marks Summit
  5. Whistler

Canada may be thousands of miles away from me, but one thing is for certain- I’ll be back.

Back to the 90’s

Hi guys!

Can ya’ll believe that spring break is within a couple of days? I sure can. I have been counting down the days since this month began. I am taking a trip out of the country for the first time since Norway (Eeek!) Any guesses where I’ll be going?

Hint: I’m going to need lots and lots of layers. If you haven’t noticed, I am a snow bunny at heart.

Let me know what adventures you’ll be partaking in this spring break as well! But, if you’re not going on a trip then make sure to take that time to relax and do the stuff you’ve been lacking time to do. Like reading that book or starting the plans for the business you’ve wanted to start for years. Whatever you end up doing, do so with passion.

In preparation for my trip I raided my mom’s closet in search of some coats. I ended up stumbling upon some other gorgeous finds in the process. Who knew my mom was such a little fashionista?

These grey Tommy Hilfiger jeans have been a staple of my closet ever since I pulled them out from hiding. I adore the stone-grey color that breaks out amongst the throngs of blue jeans. Despite my love for the jeans, however, these red boots somehow managed to surpass them. These red vintage boots, Tommy Hilfiger as well, have a great 90’s platform boot look to them. And not only are they super cute but they’re also insanely comfy and durable. I spent 4 hours of walking around in them and by the end I was still pain-free. I call for a style comeback asap. Please?

I will definitely be raiding my mom’s closet soon to dig out some new treasures. Moral of the story, check out your mommas closet (with her approval of course). There is bound to be tons of clothing aching to be worn and you never know what you might uncover.
